Technical Writer

Overview
The candidate will support our customer as a technical writer in the development of precision warfare technology. The candidate will be working in a dynamic R&D and production environment. They will interface directly with project managers, engineers, and senior technical staff to develop technical manuals and other documentation. This support includes generating technical documentation related to the acquisition, design, integration, interfaces, logistics, maintenance, and training elements of systems. The candidate will be responsible for editing, proofreading, and providing writing support on non-technical and technical documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications.
Responsibilities
The candidate will prepare new or revised technical documentation and material for R&D, software applications, software and hardware testing, and associated equipment systems. Documentation will include but not be limited to: processes and procedures, user guides, application notes, application drawings, design documents, interface documents, online help files, technical directives and/or bulletins, and related technical information. The candidate will ensure documentation is accurate, up to date and complies with the technical source information. The candidate may also prepare technical presentation material, multimedia briefing materials, and assist in schedule or milestone charting. The candidate shall attend program/technical meetings and project reviews, as well as record and distribute meeting minutes and action items. The candidate will assist with maintenance of a technical library. Responsibilities include checking drafts for format, clarity and overall cohesiveness. Ensuring documents meet editorial specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Looks for inconsistencies of thought, development or organization. The candidate may need to collaborate with other authors to recommend preparation of material. May also verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources. Candidate may interface with other technical writers, illustrators, and other production groups in coordinating/preparing the edited draft.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are:
(1) Bachelor or Associates degree in the area of English or related field (2) Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat (3) Knowledge of formal document formats, styles, and structure for technical documentation (4) Two years of experience as a technical writer.
Clearance Condition of employment - must be able to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Citizenship Must have US citizenship at time of employment
