Fabrication Technician (SCA Engineering Technician IV)

Position Duties:
Perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity on project test simulators, test panels, and laboratory test support structures and equipment. Assist in the performance of test and evaluation of aircraft survivability technology. Perform as a member of project work team on project test article preparations, modifications, assembly, setup and teardown using machine shop operations, sheet metal fabrication, steel and aluminum burning, welding operations, and mechanical assembly to existing project test article systems and structural test simulator assemblies or construct new systems to achieve test simulation requirements.
Perform modifications to or construct special test support equipment, systems, and large-scale structures. Perform review and acceptance checks at project milestones and completion of project assignment for technical adequacy. Fabricate unconventional, one-of-a-kind items, systems, apparatus, and test support structures in support of experimental project test articles.
Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and technical publications. Perform maintenance, repair, and update on special test support equipment and systems unique to WSL to support test article preparation and test pad operations. Other tasking, as required, to support customer requirements.
Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary. Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120. Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Overtime is a requirement of this position.
Minimum Experience and Skills:
High school education or equivalent. Formal military or trade school or equivalent on-the-job training commensurate with duties. Practical knowledge of mathematics and science or engineering related to duties.
Minimum of five years hands-on experience in fabrication and/or machine shop operations, sheet metal fabrication, composite materials tooling and fabrication, welding operations and mechanical assembly related to duties. Skilled with precision hand tools and measuring instruments. Must have ability to interpret engineering drawings, test plans, and program requirements. Must be capable of leading a fabrication team on project efforts, to cost, schedule, and technical specification as per engineering design.
Must be capable of developing modifications such that program requirements are satisfied without jeopardizing safety of operations. Must possess ability to work tactfully with professional engineers, technicians and management staff on all levels of effort. Familiarity with test procedures and safety in an RDT&E environment. Prior forklift experience highly desired, prior water jet experience a plus.
Must possess a valid California drivers license. U.S. Citizenship and U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required for hire, and to be maintained throughout employment. All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
