Engineering/Electronics Technician, Journeyman

Provides Tier 2 support to the end-user by installing/uninstalling software, trouble-shooting software/hardware issues, and upgrading desktop/laptop computers and peripherals at the user's location. When issuing new equipment to a user or recovering old equipment from a user, the technician is required to maintain inventory control paperwork.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Installation of new equipment to fulfill IT requirements for individual users. Must be able to install, uninstall, and troubleshoot Microsoft and other desktop applications as well as peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, monitors, VOIP telephones, Smartphones, fax machines, etc.
  • Assisting customers in the setup and configuration of computer hardware and software.
  • Performing scheduled hardware and software upgrades.
  • Provides remote technical assistance to users.
  • Updating operating systems with correct drivers and service packs.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
